With the mission of serving as “America’s medical school for uniformed physicians,” the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) was established. USU, which is based in Bethesda, Maryland, seeks prospective medical students with a desire to serve others and who thrive in a team environment.
All USU students are active-duty service members, so the government pays for their education. Additionally, I spoke with a charming professional interviewee who was considering matriculating into USUHS. She served in the Navy for 14 years as an intelligence officer in addition to being a fitness model and body builder. I sincerely hope she enrolls in this medical school because, in my opinion, she and USUHS are a good fit. I do want to see where she goes and what she does in the future, so I hope to stay in touch with her. She will eventually become one of the world’s leaders, if she hasn’t already.
Answer was taken from online. Therefore, you have a 5-week period between M1 and M2 where you must complete a 2-week summer operation experience and a 1-week combat medicine course. You are granted two additional weeks of freedom to take time off as you please.
There was an email from Dr. Liotta for another candidate saying that although that candidate was added to the primary waitlist, interviews will still take place in January and February. Despite the later interview date, some students may be selected to be accepted immediately. The interviewers’ ranking score is the main factor used to determine whether you are removed from the waitlist.

Being able to help those who are putting their lives in danger for the country we live in is the most humble thing one can do. In addition to their dedication to helping others, the patients strive to maintain their general health by engaging in regular exercise and hard work. They are all covered by medical insurance, so they won’t be denied access to high-quality care because they can’t afford it. In addition, everyone in the military has a personal trainer assigned to them, unlike in the civilian world. Military comradery is crucial, and it’s a pleasure to be around the high caliber individuals who frequently choose to serve their country by joining the military.

Maybe it sounds corny, but medical training through the military would offer a unique path, full of interesting travel, unusual cases, and novel settings.

Some USUHS students are given the opportunity to sail to Central America for four weeks. Others are a part of the initial response to ebola or hurricane-related global public health and medical crises. How difficult is it to get into USUHS?
The acceptance rate for USUHS is around 9%, with over 3,000 applicants vying for about 170 open spots each year. There are typically 63 Army students, 51 Air Force students, 51 Navy students, and 2 Public Health Service students, though representation varies by branch.
How much do USUHS students make?
A monthly stipend of over $2,300 for over 102 weeks; 45 days of active duty pay as an O-1 plus BAH and BAS One-time signing bonus of $20,000. 7 years Active Duty after graduation. For every year of their scholarship, up to a maximum of four years, students will repay it by serving in the military on a 1 to 1 basis.
Is USUHS pass fail?
All pre-clerkship modules, necessary clerkships, and sub-internships are graded on an honors/pass/fail basis with the exception of the pre-clerkship Foundation module.
Do you get paid to go to USUHS?
