So today I had my very first SES interview. To be clear, I’m career-fed, so I’m approaching this from that perspective rather than from the private sector.

The interview went really well, first and foremost (I hope, but I guess I’ll see). The interview panel was made up of 4 people. Each panelist asked a question in turn, and the questions were very structured. Each had a turn to ask a question, then another turn to ask a follow-up question. Most of the time, I was informed, my first response included information from the follow-up as well.

I used the CCAR method to provide my answers. I was undoubtedly questioned about diversity, and I’m grateful to the commenters who posted before me and warned me to expect those questions. The conversations were very strategic, but also very focused in a way. I believe I provided thoughtful responses, so I have hope that the process will go well.
