“I would begin by obtaining all the official exam material – blueprint, sample questions, textbooks, etc. and becoming an expert on the exam. I’d reach out to contacts in that field for insights. From my research, I’d draft a course outline hitting every objective. I’d work closely with SMEs to transform my outline into comprehensive instruction. I’d also sit in on exam review courses to better understand student needs and challenges.”

Tell me about a time you had to rapidly create content on a tight deadline. How did you handle it?

Our biggest piece of advice for a question like this is to never give away the person’s name. If you’re interviewing in the same city as your college, it could be a friend, cousin, neighbor, or sorority sister of the person interviewing you. You just never know. What we recommend is using class projects as an example:

When you talk to your interviewer, make sure that your answer shows that you are taking action instead of just telling them. It’s a classic case of show, not tell. When someone on your team does something wrong, you talk to them about it carefully, do what you need to do to fix it, and get the job done. In the accounting world, it’s all about solving problems efficiently and effectively. Show that you can do that.
