Why do you want to work at State Farm?
Try to praise them for something. Perhaps it is because they are the largest insurance provider in the United States, have a stellar reputation, and, unlike many of their rivals, have never been involved in a significant money laundering scandal or other similar activity. Just some small missteps, but nothing huge.
You almost certainly know someone who works for State Farm (possibly a distant Facebook connection). You can say that they were complimentary of the company’s working environment, the perks offered to employees, or anything else. Basically they told you something that motivated you to apply.
Try in any case to persuade the hiring managers that they are your top choice and that you did not simultaneously apply for positions with 20 other companies.
Example: “One of my customers called me when I was working at my previous job because they were locked out of their car. They required assistance entering the vehicle because they had forgotten their keys inside. I informed them that I would be there in 15 minutes to meet them at their location. Within ten minutes, I got there and unlocked their car so they could get back inside. This demonstrated to them my commitment to assisting others. ”.
Ex: “When troubleshooting issues, I believe good communication skills are crucial because they enable me to clearly explain the problem to my customer and my supervisor. Additionally, I discover that effective communication abilities make working on a project with other team members easier. For instance, if I’m working on a claim with another agent, I can use my communication skills to inquire about their method or concepts so that we can both benefit from one another. ”.
Example: “I’ve always been fascinated by how insurance companies work. It’s intriguing to me that they can forecast risk and provide insurance policies based on those forecasts. Because I am so passionate about this field, I knew I had to apply as soon as I saw this position. Given that I’m eager to learn more about the insurance industry, I believe I would be a great fit here. ”.
For instance, “I believe that empathy is a crucial trait in a salesperson because it enables you to connect with clients on a personal level. Having faith in your abilities as a salesperson is crucial, in my opinion, as it makes you feel more prepared when interacting with customers. Last but not least, I believe it’s crucial to be organized because it can aid in maintaining focus during meetings and appointments. ”.
Example: “I perform best under pressure, especially when working with customers. When I was an insurance agent, I once dealt with a client who wanted a new policy because their old one was too expensive. Additionally, they were dissatisfied with the assistance they received from their prior supplier. I spent time comparing services and came up with a strategy that would be cost-effective for them while still offering top-notch service. They joined our organization and have been content ever since. ”.
Why sales agent (customer service representative, underwriter, any other position)?
Make an effort to relate your abilities, skills, and experience to the position you want. If you’re applying for a job as a sales agent, you can mention that you’re excellent at persuasion, that your sales abilities are exceptional, that you think you have what it takes to be a successful insurance agent, and that you consistently produce nice sales volume for the company.
You could also say that you like the job description and that, in light of everything you’ve accomplished thus far in your career, it seems like the best option. Additionally, if you’re ambitious, you could mention a position you hope to hold with State Farm in five years, such as their CFO or CTO.
It is important to speak with enthusiasm. They shouldn’t get the impression that you are only applying because you are unable to find a better-paying job.
