5 FIRST JOB INTERVIEW TIPS! HOW TO PASS YOUR FIRST EVER INTERVIEW!
Interviews can be a daunting experience at the best of times. However, when it’s your first job interview, you will undoubtedly feel the pressure. Below, Richard McMunn provides you with 5 great tips for passing your very first job interview with flying colors!
Tip #1 – Most hiring managers and recruiters are more attracted to enthusiasm and positivity than skill or expertise. When you attend your first job interview, smile, be positive, and believe in yourself! You can do this!
Tip #2 – Don’t try to be somebody you’re not! Be honest about your lack of experience but use this to your advantage. Tell the interviewer you are a ‘blank canvass’ and somebody they can train up to a standard they need in this role. If you’ve been invited to the interview, then they are 100% INTERESTED in hiring you!
Tip #3 – One of the easiest ways to demonstrate your passion and enthusiasm for the job is to dress the part. Regardless of which company your first job interview is with, make sure you wear a smart, formal outfit and remember to clean your shoes!
Tip #4 – It is VERY IMPORTANT that you conduct some research into their company before you attend your first job interview. Go on to their website and check out their products, their services, and also what their mission statement says. The hiring manager may well ask you the following interview question: “Tell me what you know about our company?”
Tip #5 – Make sure you prepare 3-4 questions to ask the interview panel at the end of the interview. This is your opportunity to find out a bit more about the role and also what you will be doing once you start!

5 IMPORTANT TIPS FOR JOB INTERVIEWS!
If you have a job interview coming up soon for any role or company, the following five essential tips will help you prepare fully.
Always remember this when preparing for any job interview: you are up against several other candidatesand the hiring manager will choose the person who is best qualified for the role. What you say, and how you say it at your job interview will be the difference between a pass or a fail. Make sure you go all out to sell yourself and above all be confident in your abilities!
JOB INTERVIEW TIP #1
Read the job description carefully before your interview. The job description describes the skills, qualities, and attributes needed to excel in the role. Match your strengths with the job description and you will increase your chances of success.
JOB INTERVIEW TIP #2
Dress to impress the hiring manager at your interview. You will be assessed against not just your answers to the interview questions, but also the effort you make in your appearance. Don’t make the mistake of turning up to your interview in a non-presentable manner.
JOB INTERVIEW TIP #3
Carry out some research before you go along to your interview. Research the company to find out their history, the products and services they sell, and what their latest news stories are. You will have to answer the interview question, what do you know about this company and why do you want to work for us?
JOB INTERVIEW TIP #4
At the end of your job interview, you will get the chance to ask some questions of your own. Ask the interviewer 3 questions that put you across as a smart, caring, and loyal employee. Do not ask questions about pay, holiday, or perks of the job!
JOB INTERVIEW TIP #5
‘Evidence’ is the best way to pass any job interview. If you can provide details and evidence of previous good work performance, you are far more likely to get hired. Think of situations you have been in where you worked in a team, where you provided excellent customer service, where you made a mistake and took ownership of it, and where you had to overcome a difficult challenge.
