ApplicationI applied online.  The process took 5 weeks. Interview at Rally Software in Longmont, Colorado, in October 2015I spoke with the department manager via video. She was very nice and the experience was good. I was told that HR would follow up with me in a few days to arrange a time to come into the office and conduct an interview with the rest of the team. I was told to inform the manager if I didn’t hear back from HR. Since HR did not respond, I carried out the advised follow-up. I did hear from HR by the end of the week, and they promised to schedule a day and time for me to hear back. I didn’t hear again, so I sent an email. I was informed that they would contact me and that they were also considering other candidates. It goes without saying that I was never invited to the anticipated team interview and that I FINALLY learned via email (a month after the selection process started) that another applicant had been chosen. The whole process was very disappointing and unprofessional. They just kept stringing me along. ApplicationI applied online.  The process took 1+ week. In May 2015, I had a phone interview with a department head at Rally Software (Boulder, CO). The first interview was with a corporate recruiting manager. a third in-person interview, this time with two of the team’s four members at a time. The team seemed extremely enthusiastic. Within a few days of submitting my application, I received calls and emails. I scheduled two phone interviews before being invited in for an in-person interview, where I spoke with the director and four other team members. Apart from the fact that I don’t have any formal Agile experience, she was all smiles and seemed very pleased with my responses about what I love to do and my qualifications for the position. I honestly thought I nailed it, and I even got a tour of the office. I received an email a few days later stating that I was not hired and that the hiring process is “consensus-driven.” Very disappointing considering how many interviews there were and how much time was spent preparing What experience do you have with the Agile process? Interviewer:Please describe your job title and primary duties. Rally’s Cook:Cashier and I cook on a grill. And essentially, I was just ringing up customers, taking their orders, or doing some light cooking.

What was the atmosphere like at work like? Rally’s Cook:I’d say every Rally’s is unique in some way. When I was employed, I was in Cleveland and I worked at Rally’s. So work environment, it was okay. I won’t say it was the cleanest, but we did our best to keep it that way. And although I won’t name all of them, some of them, you know, you can’t work with everyone. But, you know what I mean, it was generally cool.

What about working there was your favorite aspect? Rally’s Cook: I’d have to say my manager, or managers, because they were very understanding of me. Even though I was only there for three months, they were understanding the entire time. Cool managers made it so we could all work together, so I was good, and they made it so it was all good. So we was all at the same pace.

Interviewer:Please describe the application and interview process. Rally’s Cook:All right, so filled out the application. I would estimate that it took me about a week and a half to receive a callback. I had an interview, I actually had two interviews. I went to an interview, spoke with the man, and basically told him everything about my background and history. And he was interested. About three days later, on a Friday, I would say, I had another interview. After that I started working. The next step followed on Monday. For me, it seemed like a simple, easy, and smooth process. Really, they got in touch with me right away.

Rally’s Cook:He was asking about my family, things I was interested in, things I used to do, such as whether or not I played any sports, whether or not I graduated from high school, and other things of that nature. Oh yeah, he asked me if I had ever served in the military or anything else, which I had not.

How were you notified that you got the job, per the interviewer’s question? Rally’s Cook:It took them about three days, she said. Yeah, I started that Monday, so about three days. Then they contacted me. I was contacted for the first interview via email and provided my phone number, after which they called me. Second interview I got the job. They called me and I got it. I entered and watched the cooking-related videos. So yeah, easy simple process.

What additional guidance would you offer to someone looking for work? Rally’s Cook: Just go for it. You understand what I mean when I say there’s nothing wrong with working in fast food? It’s simple and reliable. I don’t want to say make sure you’re a people person, but make sure you can work with others so that everything goes smoothly. It’s cool, just make sure- I’m not going to say make sure you like money. You shouldn’t work with people you dislike, you understand? It’s not cool. Another thing I just want to say is to think of it this way: work toward the company and the community. You put that effort in, just strive to get what you want and need, you know what I’m saying? You get what you put in, you got to work for it. Similar to networking, you must engage in it if you want to succeed. Honestly, honestly, so just go for it. I like Rally’s.
