Pride Month, which should be 24/7, 365 days a year, is a demonstration of the resilience of a community that is dope. If it weren’t for those who fought for our rights, such as Marsha P. Johnson, Sylvia Rivera, Miss Major, and all BIPOC and Latine “transcesters” who have paved the way for the entire LGBTQIA+ community, we would not have the rights and protections we continue to fight for to this day.

During Pride Month, a brief period of time, many businesses, organizations, and individuals who aren’t necessarily gay declare their support for the LGBTQIA+ communities. Pride, however, can be experienced whenever and for however long as one is part of a community. This month gives those in our community who have never met a chance to do so and gives us a chance to celebrate our identities on our own.
