140 competency based interview questions

When it comes to the interview process, one of the most important elements to consider is the questions that you will ask. As an employer, you want to ensure that the candidate you are considering for the position has the skills and experience necessary, as well as an understanding of the company culture. One way to do this is by using competency-based interviewing techniques and asking Lominger Interview Questions. Lominger Interview Questions are a series of questions that focus on measuring skills and competencies, rather than a candidate’s past job experience. By doing this, employers have the opportunity to gain insight into what the candidate can bring to the company and whether they have the necessary skills to be successful. In this blog post, we will discuss the importance of using Lominger Interview Questions in the interview process and provide tips on how to go about asking them.

What are Lominger interview questions?
  • Situation: Describe a challenge you faced.
  • Task: Explain your role in the situation.
  • Action: Detail the steps you took to overcome the challenge.
  • Result: Explain what happened as a result of your actions.

8 Lominger Competencies in Reality

The Lominger interview process is one piece of a larger program referred to as the Leadership Architect Suite, which is designed to help businesses run more smoothly, according to Eriksson Associates. The program was created by two professionals with experience in talent management and leadership. Dr. Michael M. Lombardo and Dr. Robert W. Eichinger took parts of their last names to give the program its name – “Lom” from Lombardo and “inger” from Eichinger.

According to Lominger research, candidates who exhibit a strong need to finish one task before moving on to another risk derailing a project or their own careers. High performers, on the other hand, are frequently those who take risks, are open to trying new things, and are able to make decisions without having all the information.

Candidates are asked during the interview to describe a time when they overcame a challenge or performed admirably in a particular circumstance. They are open-ended and demand a narrative or anecdote to demonstrate a particular skill. Candidates are asked to discuss actions they took and to provide justifications for those actions in response to interview questions.

When job candidates provide stories and examples for their interviews, interviewers trained in the Lominger interview model search for encouraging themes. For instance, adaptability and flexibility are beneficial qualities that may be demonstrated in a response. On the other hand, rigidity and the inability to change course when necessary are undesirable traits that can also be seen.

While the Lominger competencies test researchers identified certain qualities as positive traits, interviewers prefer to hire candidates who possess these qualities, but these same competencies can be learned and strengthened through a variety of experiences. The core competencies are discussed by recruiters during the initial interview when they inquire about the candidates’ prior experiences.
