ApplicationI applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 months. The hiring manager was as stupid as a rock when I went to interview at Kendo (Rio Vista, CA) in February 2022. Five weeks ago, she contacted me to schedule a phone interview and inquired about my schedule. I gave it to her. The only time she responded was when I repeatedly followed up and she sent me a cryptic email saying she was awaiting word on who she should recommend to the hiring manager—wait, what? I hadn’t even been interviewed yet. Then I noticed the position had been reposted. I don’t know what’s going on at this company, but in a market where jobs are scarce, they ought to take talent seriously. Some positions have been advertised for more than a year.

The hiring process was pretty simple but the recruiter was an issue. After the initial phone screen and hiring manager interview, this sounded like a wonderful opportunity and a great time. Then it went downhill very very fast. An hour prior to the scheduled panel interview, where I was presenting creative content/case study (that took me time to develop) related to the role the recruiter called me to bait and switch on the salary. The new salary was 40k less than what was originally discussed. When I expressed I wouldn’t be moving forward the recruiter asked my current salary (illegal) and then said she could match it (also illegal) at 20k more than the new offer and 20k less than the initial range. Red flags abound. Steer clear. Do not pass go. Do not work for a place that disregards California state law.

The fact that Kendo UI is not as popular as some of the other frontend frameworks could be a drawback.
