What do you understand by “ship life” and what do you anticipate from our workplace environment?

The interviewer wants to know that you have a realistic understanding of both the positive and negative aspects of ship life. You must join Royal Caribbean International with realistic expectations and refrain from thinking that working there will be all fun and games because you’ll be traveling the world. Talk about the culture of work you perceive to exist on cruise ships.

I think the phrase “ship life” refers to the particular situation crew members find themselves in when working on a ship for an extended period of time. I am aware that working on a cruise ship is not always fun and games as depicted in, say, movies. I anticipate that your workplace will foster a sense of camaraderie while also undergoing some growing pains as you get used to working on a ship with potentially hundreds of different nationalities. I am looking forward to the excellent training and the new experiences, but I am aware that some days will be harder on my emotions than others. “.

According to what I understand, “ship life” is a way of life that involves constantly working, eating, sleeping, and having fun on a ship. Cruise ship work is a unique experience, and I am aware that it is not always enjoyable and straightforward. I’m willing to put in the effort in exchange for opportunities and experiences that will change my life. I anticipate that your staff will be well-trained, accepting of diversity, and naturally inclusive. Is this accurate to say?”.

Common interview questions might include ‘Can you tell us a bit about yourself? ‘ or ‘Why do you want this job? ‘ Meanwhile, job-specific questions could include: ‘What skills can you bring to this cruise line?

Interview

Initial 30 minute call with recruiter who was nice and helpful. The next step was a 30 minute call with the hiring manager who came off as uninterested right off the bat. Came in 5 minutes late and was slouching the entire time in his chair. As I was talking he seemed like he wasn’t paying attention and I caught him typing and smiling at his screen at one point. Extremely disrespectful and waste of time. Did not seem to care or ask me anything about my background. Seems like this position has been available since June and by the looks of other reviews other people have had similar experiences with him. Seems like he has no people skills and not the type of manager I would want to be working under. The interview ended 5 minutes early because I couldn’t manage to keep a conversation with him because of how pretentious he came off. I asked him how his day went and he answered “fine” and that was it. Did not attempt to hold a conversation at all. I got an email the next day saying they are not moving forward with my application with no further explanation as to why. Such a waste of time and effort preparing.
