    I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Canada Post (Edmonton, AB) in Jul. 2022.

    I submitted an online application and Adecco (a temporary staffing firm) contacted me via email. agency employed by Canada Post to conduct candidate interviews) regarding my interview I wasn’t questioned about an interview until a week after it actually happened. Because they want to see your driver’s license, it was conducted virtually. The remainder of the interview was then conducted over the phone because the video feed was making my laptop overheat. Canada Post requests to view a video of your driver’s license. I don’t mind that they want to see me on video, but I wonder if they could not ask for an attachment. Being on the autism spectrum, I noticed that Canada Post stated that minorities and people with disabilities would be given priority. (I am caucasian). The questions were straight forward, but also rather annoying. I’ve held a variety of manual labor positions, and I was asked how I would react in various scenarios. Answering the questions felt like a chore, and I wasn’t particularly motivated to do so. In my experience as a professional musician, the majority of the inquiries made were irrelevant. When posting for this position, Canada Post should make the following clarifications: Candidates must be ready to begin at 4:00 AM with as little as two hours’ notice. By doing so, you disrupt your sleep by leaving your phone on. Once I heard this, my enthusiasm dropped substantially. 2. Candidates must be available all of the time. When I applied, I stated that I could work two days per week. This is not clarified by Canada Post. Canada Post wants to find a large pool of canadates. They recruit as many people as they can by leaving out important details about the position. Less people will apply if they list the less appealing aspects of the job. Canada Post should start by being truthful; there is no need to waste people’s time. Its deceitful and disrespectful. Finally, it will be difficult or impossible to reach one at an early morning start time like 4am unless you have a vehicle or live close to a depot (Canada Post makes no mention of the respective depots in your area which you may be expected to work at and travel to). Public transit does not run at that hour. I doubt many people would pay cab fares to get to work every morning even at the stated wage of $22 per hour unless they were in a desperate situation.

    What Is Canada Post Recruitment Process?

    The first step in the Canada Post hiring process is the application. The applications for all job postings are available online, and the job search is made easier by the ability to search by job title or keyword. You will need to create a profile on the website to apply for jobs. Once you have created your profile you can apply for the position you want. If you do not see the position you are interested in available, you can sign up for job alerts so you can apply for that position the next time it becomes available. If your skills are a match you will be contacted for an interview. Only job-seekers who will be interviewed are contacted.

    Following application submission, you will be required to complete an online assessment test.

    The General Ability Test, or GAT, is the name of this examination. You will have 10 minutes to complete the timed GAT, during which you will be tested on the skills required for employment with Canada Post.

    Your test will assess your proficiency in six areas that represent the skills needed to work for Canada Post. These sections are all multiple choice.

  • Address Sorting – You will need to determine if two addresses are the same or different.
  • Spatial Reasoning – This test will consist of 3-dimensional shapes which you will have to be able to understand when they are rotated into different directions or angles.
  • Memorization – You will have 5 minutes to memorize 20 similar addresses that are in different columns. Each column has 4 addresses, and there are 5 separate columns. You will then be asked to recall which column each address belonged in, you will have 4 minutes to place all 20 addresses.
  • Letter Counting – You will be given an address and will need to figure out which given range of addresses it goes into.
  • Verbal Reasoning – You will be given a passage to read followed by several statements. You will need to select the most accurate statement.
  • Reading Comprehension – You will be given a paragraph to read, followed by several multiple-choice questions.
  • The best candidates, as determined by their resumes and success on the general assessment test, will be contacted for an interview. Your first interview will be a phone screening. This is mostly to set up an in-person interview. Additionally, they will question you briefly regarding your resume and pertinent experience.

    The in-person interview is largely behavioral-based. Working well in a team environment and being able to adhere to safety procedures are requirements for Canada Post employees. The inquiries will be based on the qualifications required for the position you applied for. For instance, prospective letter carriers might be questioned about their familiarity with house numbers and locating addresses.
