Joey: Okay, so the efficacy of exercise is a part of what I’d call this science. Its the fact that this thing just works. If you visit Barry’s with the intention of getting results, your body will change within a few weeks. You will start to have abs. Its something that has helped Barry’s last for 21 years. Because Barry invented both this concept and the boutique fitness industry, I refer to him as the mad scientist. Back in 1998, there were no boutique fitness rivals and no environment. He was truly original, and I believe that is important because people adore originality and can smell it. The community and the fact that our mission, our vision, and our values are tangible, as well as our customers and clients, make up the second component. When you enter Barry’s, you immediately notice that everyone is pursuing the same objectives. I believe that we approach people in a different way than many other fitness enthusiasts do. Adam: Joey, can you tell us a little bit more about your rise to the top? I understand that you began as a Barry’s fan who participated in his workouts, and not long after that, you became the CEO of the organization. How did that happen?.

Adam: Yeah, it does. I believe that’s a subject on which you could provide a lot of insight for listeners, so could you talk a little bit about how you’re able to manage your time, manage conflicting priorities, and achieve your goals?

Adam: Motivation is obviously a core topic. You try to inspire your clients in the fitness industry. As a leader, youre trying to motivate your team. When you don’t feel motivated, how do you keep yourself going?

Joey: It’s definitely helpful to have someone who can assist you with time management, and I’ve been fortunate enough in my career over the past couple of years to have a really talented person help me manage my time. I personally have an open door policy, so I’m just inundated with meetings and calls, and I try to set aside on my calendar a couple of hours where there isn’t anything planned, where I can really focus on a lot of the more, you know, high level vision goals that I have for the organization. Because when you’re in a role like, you know, CEO or leadership where you’re running an organization of this size, and I personally have an open door policy, it’s all day And then I often work to prioritize the rest. I think about, you know, one of the things you and I talked about earlier, which was the importance of knowing where you can add value, as I sort through meeting requests. In order to prioritize where I can add the most value and where I might be able to assign that meeting to someone else who could perform it more effectively, I need to take a close look at all the various parts of the organization and the various requests coming in.
