Cloud Support Engineer I Interview

Application

I applied online. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at Amazon (Herndon, VA) in Jun 2022

Interview

Deployment/Devops. I was expecting and prepared for leadership principles because recruiter told me that’s what it was going to be about. He basically asked whatever was on the resume. It was difficult for me because I wasn’t prepared technical that much. Plus at leas he could’ve asked tell me about yourself.

Interview Questions

  • What makes Ansible unique from other tools like Chef, Puppet, or anything else of the sort? Is Ansible agent or agentless? What does it use to communicate with the host? How does Ansible interact with the servers? What have you automated so far in terms of that, like what have you configured on the host using Ansible playbook? You mentioned Docker; what is Docker like? What command would we use if I wanted to create a Docker image so that I could use it to launch a container on a local laptop or an EC2 instance? What command should I use? What’s the difference between Docker build and Docker Compose? As an illustration, suppose you have a machine with X Docker containers running on it as well as perhaps an instant easy instance or server or something similar. What command would you use to check those containers, if there were seven of them running on the machine, but two of them stopped for some reason? What can you do from here to determine why those two containers stopped? Let’s say paint shop for whatever reasons, and someone asks you, “Hey, can we check what happened to those two containers?” How would you respond if someone approached you and said, “Hey, can we check what happened there? I was looking over your resume, and it also says that you have experience with EKS elastic Kubernetes service.” Yes. What is Jenkins, for example, and what does it do? What are its components? Does Jenkins have the idea of a master slave, and if so, what is it? Can you walk me through how you would? For example, let’s say you write some code correctly and want to push it to whatever repository you’re using. You said that GitLab only pushes updated code. What if you do this, but the repository has a conflict? Now that you’ve mentioned your work with TerraForm and CloudFormation, how will you resolve it? What language do you use to write your code? What have you so far coded using cloud formation or TerraForm? Like any major projects to undertake and where you wrote IAC for that? If yes, please discuss it. For example, what is the most ambitious thing you have done with IAC? Any difficulty you face while writing this setup form template? Let’s say we create a setup form template. Different deployment techniques can be used when deploying any application, as well as virtual machines, containers, and other things of that nature. Are you familiar with Windows or Linux? How do you connect to a Linux machine personally? What if SSH stops working for some reason? For example, remember when we discussed rolling and versus blue and green? Key the difference between those two? What is the default port for SSH? Let’s assume the server is operating normally because you can see your instance running normally when you go to the AWS console. Even though the inbound rule is correct and the security group is allowing port 22 and instances in the public subnet, a better system is still not functioning. When you use ping, does it check network connectivity or does it check connectivity on a specific port? What if you want to check connectivity on a specific website on a specific port, for example? Are there any commands you can run to see where the problem might be with this? You ping it and get a response, right? You do Ping google. If you receive a response, it means that you can communicate with Google, i.e., that Google can communicate with your laptop from where you executed that command. com Just fine. However, if you want to contact Google, use port 8080, for example. What method would you use to test connectivity for that? Assume you build a website. Just as an illustration, consider your personal website, where you undoubtedly include information about your life and other things. And it’s hosted on, let’s say www yourname. com. Write your name means that can. com That’s fine. So when you pick that you get a response. You’re using your own laptop or computer, so connectivity should be fine, but you want to communicate with your website on a specific port, right? How would you test connectivity with your website on port 8080, for instance? What command would you use to verify both connectivity and website compatibility? To check port is open or not.

The interviewer was impressed and following this, they set up my final interview which is a loop interview. It was a 4-hour interview with 4-6 interviewers. It went well but no offers handed out.

Interview Questions

  • There are many questions on Linux/Unix, Windows OS, SQL, networking, performance tuning, query optimization, and 10–12 behavioral questions.
