Short and sweet, they are marine surveyors for insurance.
There are times when the risk that needs to be insured is so high that part of the premium is used to pay for a marine survey.
In this case, the insurance policy will have a clause that says coverage for damage or loss will depend on the marine warranty surveyor’s report and assessment.
