Interviewer:
How would you describe the application and interview process?

Costco Cashier: Application is pretty straightforward. They asked the same types of questions that they always ask during job interviews. The interview was brief—about 15 minutes—and extremely thorough. They questioned you extensively about your past, including whether you had a lot of experience and whether you could carry a certain amount of weight for the position. However, the managers there are friendly, so yeah.

Interviewer:
What set you apart from other candidates?

Costco cashier: I just come across as very natural in interviews, giving them my all and being very forthright with them.

Interviewer: What other tips would you offer to someone looking for work?

Costco cashier: I believe it’s a great place for anyone to work. I always refer people to that job. It’s among the best jobs I’ve ever had. And yeah, just go there and be natural. They have great benefits, and they’re very accommodating to students. Very accommodating. That’s almost the best part of the job.

Interviewer:
Please describe your job title and primary duties.

Costco Sales Associate: I was a sales associate. During my three months there, I primarily said, “Here’s a package.” We just got the shipment. Help us with stocking this. Help us with organizing aisle, whatever. ” And stuff like that. Just regular jobs that they would ask throughout the day. I was always called upon to help out if they needed anything. Stuff like that.

Interviewer:
How would you describe the application and interview process?

Costco Sales Associate: I had to go through two people, so that was a pain. The first person I applied with didn’t seem particularly pleased with my application. And so I could have swore he threw it away. And I went another day because I was persistent. I really wanted that job. I also spoke with another manager, who was very friendly. I was able to speak with him and review his application because of this, and he appeared to be genuinely interested. After about two weeks I received a callback.

What inquiries did the interviewer make during the hiring process?

He inquired as to my activities outside of school, and I replied that I was in charge of the York University martial arts club at the time. I therefore shared with him my encounters with that and interacting with people.

Interviewer: What other tips would you offer to someone looking for work?

Costco Sales Associate: Try to step outside of your comfort zone if you’re looking for a job, in general. Many people are extremely hesitant to participate in activities like extracurriculars. Please describe your job title and primary duties.

Costco Store Associate: Costco, I was just an associate. I suppose I was in charge of restocking occasionally, but not really for the larger items. It’s usually the smaller items. Right. Additionally, I simply assist clients who needed assistance or had any questions. And that was pretty much it.

Interviewer:
How would you describe the application and interview process?

Store employee at Costco: I conducted a group interview there. And it was all right I guess. They ask the same questions again, and we must go around the circle and respond. It was really competitive, I guess, and they asked questions like, “What qualities you have, and what makes you, I guess, the better candidate for the job as opposed to all the other people sitting with you?”

Interviewer: What other tips would you offer to someone looking for work?

Costco Store Associate: I actually loved Costco. I wish I could, but I had to stop because of school, but after working there for a year, I would encourage anyone who was interested to pursue it because everyone there seemed to be happy. Everyone enjoyed it pretty much.
