How have you handled a situation where your team was resisting change?

In my old job, our company was upgrading a big system, but the team didn’t want to make the change because they were worried about how long it would take to learn and how it would affect their work. Understanding their worries, I decided to address the issue through clear communication and gradual training. I called a meeting of the team to explain the change and how it would help them in the long run. I also answered any questions they had. Instead of putting in place the new system all at once, I planned a slow rollout with hands-on training sessions so that the team could learn about and get used to it at a pace that they could handle. I made myself available for any questions and gave extra help to team members who needed it. Last but not least, we were able to switch to the new system without any problems. The team was also more confident and open to future changes.

Can you describe a professional achievement you’re particularly proud of?

One professional achievement that Im particularly proud of happened at my latest job as a Project Manager. When I started, they were behind on a big project because they weren’t organized or had good ways for people to talk to each other. I changed the project’s strategy by introducing an agile method that was meant to make it easier for teams to work together and cut down on the time it took to finish. I restructured the team functions, set clear goals, and implemented a streamlined communication platform. We were able to finish the project ahead of schedule and significantly under budget without lowering the quality of delivery. This meant that the client was happy with both the final product and the better way we did things during the project. This led to an extension of the contract for future projects. This was a considerable achievement and bolstered my confidence in taking initiatives and solving complex situations.
