Video Transcript

Interviewer:Please describe your job title and primary duties. Hostess at Buffalo Wild Wings: I served as both a hostess and a cashier, which required that I seat customers, process any online or phone orders, take orders, and enter them into the system. I would occasionally slip to the back of the kitchen and assist with bagging orders, but that was about it.

Buffalo Wild Wings Hostess: It can be busy, especially on the weekends or when there is a game on. Interviewer: How was the work environment? We do have like trivia nights that get pretty busy, but during the week, like Mondays and Tuesdays, it’s kind of slower because there’s nothing really going on. People are pretty enthusiastic about that. It’s entertaining because the atmosphere is similar to that of a bar, which makes it frequently very loud, but everyone at work is typically quite enthused about their work.

Buffalo Wild Wings Hostess: I’d have to say, when there are games on, the customers are pretty enthusiastic and they’ll talk to you about the game, and they’ll come up and ask you a question, stuff like that. Interviewer: What was your favorite part about working there? When trivia is going on, it’s pretty exciting. The environment’s pretty exciting because you win prizes. Everyone is a little rowdy because you can win things like cash prizes, gift cards, and other things, so I guess it makes it more enjoyable. But yes, the interaction with the customers is probably my favorite part.

Interviewer:Please describe the application and interview process. I went into the Buffalo Wild Wings location where I applied, and they had something like a business card with the website on it. Buffalo Wild Wings Hostess: You’ll go in. But I also requested a meeting with the manager and inquired about the types of positions they were hiring for, merely to give the manager a better idea of who I am and how I appear so that, when I submitted my application, they would be aware that they had spoken with this girl in person. Therefore, you will go online and apply, stating the position you are seeking and your availability. If you don’t already have a resume, you can upload one or enter all the information manually. Following your application, you will receive a call from them letting you know whether or not you will be invited in for an interview. The interview procedure is very comparable to that of applying for any other job. They enquire about your motivation for going, your experience working in restaurants, and other things. The training involved memorizing the menu, especially if you wanted to become a server after becoming a host or hostess. So memorizing the menu is probably the most tedious task, in my opinion. But other than that, I mean, it’s not too bad.

What inquiries did the interviewer make during the job interview? Buffalo Wild Wings Hostess:They inquired about your decision to work for the restaurant chain, your knowledge of its history, whether you know anyone who works there, and other similar inquiries. They put a lot of effort into upholding the standards set by Buffalo Wild Wings and studying its history. They will therefore ask you if you have any knowledge of that, and if you do, that’s quite good.

Buffalo Wild Wings Hostess: It took about a week to let me know that I got the job. When they called me back, they stated that they wanted me to come in and complete some paperwork, etc. They were very nice about everything. Training was not hard at all. Everyone was really nice and very helpful. But if they believe you are a strong candidate for the job, they will simply call you.

Buffalo Wild Wings Hostess: My mother worked there for a very long time, so I was always there from a young age, so I was familiar with the food, the menu, and things like that. This made me stand out from other applicants. Due to the fact that I have been a frequent visitor to Buffalo Wild Wings, I believe that may have set me apart. And once more, I’ve worked with many people, so I suppose that might be it.
