Interviews for Top Jobs at UC San Diego Health
RN Interview
I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at UC San Diego Health (San Diego, CA)
Interview
Two interviews: the first with the nurse manager, the second with both the nurse manager and the director of the department, a physician. Extensive questioning about my skills, previous work experience, what would I do in a given situation. They described the position, and the candidate they were looking for. They wanted clinical skills in a variety of settings, flexibility, good communication skills. They also preferred someone who could speak Spanish (which I do). Given the large number of Spanish-speaking patients at UCSD, that skill is extremely helpful.
- The nurse manager asked why I was applying at UCSD. It turned out she had worked for the same health system that I was working in, the exact same department. During the interview, she actually called one of the doctors there to ask about me. So we had a lot of common ground.
