I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Insomnia Cookies
Interview
I applied online and after not hearing anything for a month, I thought I was rejected. I received an email asking for my availability for a phone interview. After providing availability, I was scheduled for a 30 min call. The person doing the interviews is actually the person who facilitates the training. The lady said she liked me and thinks I’d be a good fit and she’d like to move forward. I was sent a PDF with a variety of questions such as how would you note this on the account, use the website to answer product questions, correct spelling mistakes, etc. After that was passed, I was called to schedule a second interview with one of the night managers. Although polite, the manager seemed absentminded and asked basic questions that one might think would have been reviewed during the application review before employer contact was even made. Despite positive feedback from the manager, it wasn’t clear if I should be expecting an offer and no timeframe for follow up was given. What strikes me as odd is that the company is not forthcoming with the pay rate. I had to ask on both interviews. The rate on their ad says based on experience, but that doesn’t prove to be true because the hourly rate is very low and doesn’t seem to have accounted for cost of living.
- A customer bought cookies for his college-bound son, but there were 3 missing. How would you handle it?.
Bakery Clerk Interview

Interview
Super unprofessional, interviewed talked mostly about themselves and their personal dramas. I couldn’t even begin to tell you what the process was because there wasn’t one. Weirdest interview I ever had.
- What was your work experience
Example: “At my previous job, we once had an order that had to be delivered within 30 minutes of being received. Unfortunately, we were short one person that day because our delivery driver called in sick. We were able to meet the deadline because I offered to personally deliver the cookies. ”.
Example: “At my previous job, I worked in a fast-paced environment and was in charge of baking cookies all day.” Because of the pace of that job, I had to multitask between various tasks to make sure that every cookie was delivered on time. As long as I receive clear instructions, I am sure that I can adapt to any situation. ”.
Examples include the chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal raisin cookie, and peanut butter cookie from Insomnia Cookies. Additionally, I once used your delivery service because I couldn’t find the time to visit the bakery myself. I felt better when the delivery person showed up on time carrying my warm cookies. ”.
Example: “Once, a disgruntled customer called me at two in the morning because they weren’t happy with their cookies. I expressed my regret for any inconvenience and inquired about additional ways I could make it up to you. The customer requested only a refund, so I granted it and instructed them to keep the remainder of their order free of charge. ”.
I applied for this job because I’m a huge fan of Insomnia Cookies, for instance. I appreciate that you make door-to-door deliveries of warm cookies at all hours of the night. My expertise in customer service would be a great asset to the team, and I’m thrilled to work for a business that is so dedicated to offering top-notch customer service. ”.

It’s really interesting. People enter and their eyes widen as they say, “We had to come here after seeing this cookie place.” ” And they’re like “we didn’t know this was here”.
I sleep in. Once it slows down, we’ll relax and chat to keep ourselves awake.
You can imagine. Many students, especially during finals week, will arrive and announce that they will be taking a study break at 2:30 in the morning. ” And I’m like, you poor souls. We do occasionally have drunk people enter the building. It’s always a lot of students; they’re studying 24/7.
We get an interesting crowd. Being a night owl myself, it’s kind of ideal for me. I really like being up late. Once you leave work, you notice that the city is much more peaceful. It’s almost 4 in the morning and I usually close at 3:30. It’s really quiet.
I had the chance to interview Noah Mendez, an Insomnia Cookies worker who has been around since day one, at 10 p.m. on a Monday night in the cookie shop located on S College Ave. This cookie shop opened up recently in October 2017 and has been successful since. He is originally from Denver and is currently taking a semester off from CSU. We discussed what it’s like working at a cookie shop that is open until 3 a.m.
