Hey Reddit. I got an interview with the Franchise Tax Board coming up. I have never been to a government accounting interview. I would like to know how should I prepare for it? I was told that there was going to be a short interview and tests that I needed to take and also a short essay I need to write. What are some interview questions I should prepare myself for? Any input or even interview tips not relating to Govnt accounting would go a long way.

I was routed to an empty room while I waited for the interview panel since I was early. It was a three person panel. Included manager and two leads. Interview contained 1 technical question, and a mass of behavioral questions. This took place in one session.

Whole process was about 2 months and two rounds interviews . Applied online, and got call from FTB to schedule first interview. First round is screening purpose, and two interviewers. If you passed first round, they will invite you to participate the second round. Second round is with 4 interviewers. Very reasonable. Interview questions are Not easy but not hard.

The total process is around 2-3 months. the first is examination more of behavior questions and basic background. Two in-person interviews with the company and they are a month apart. Interviewers are friendly and give a relaxing interviewing environment
