Hollister Floor Model Interview Video
Interviewer: Please describe your job title and primary duties. Hollister Floor Model: I was considered a model at Hollister. It’s just basically a person who stands by the clothes, basically customer service, all-around crew. If people needed different sizes, we’d go through the clothes, find their sizes for them. We’d go to the back and look if they didn’t see something they saw online. It’s kind of like being part of a crew, but they call it a model there.
Interviewer: What was the work environment like?Hollister Floor Model: It was dark. It was fun though, there are a lot of people that work at the same time there. It smelled really strong because they spray their house, perfume, and cologne all over the place. If you work there you got to be able to take the smell. Some people didn’t like how dark it was; I didn’t mind. There’s always a lot of people there, so that was something that was fun.
Interviewer: Please describe a typical day as an employee. Hollister Floor Model: When you get to work, you clock in, and your boss will look at you to make sure you’re not showing too much. Also, Hollister doesn’t want you to wear a lot of makeup; they want you to look natural. You should wear Hollister clothes or something that’s not a name brand, and you shouldn’t have a lot of nail polish or other things like that on your nails. You won’t walk in there wearing Abercrombie or anything like that. You just get looked through by your manager, and then they’ll tell you what station you’re on. After being a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6 for a while, you go to that station and start cleaning up and helping people.
The interviewer asked about the application and hiring process. The hopeful floor model replied, “They took me in and I tried on their clothes to see how I fit and how I looked in them. They took pictures and then sent them to their bosses or something like that.” That was basically the interview, and of course they asked me questions and things like that. They wanted to make sure I looked good in the clothes, which was a big part of it. There was also the first interview. Next, they sent the pictures and called me back after getting permission from their managers. That’s how I was able to come back to work.
Interviewer: What questions did the hiring manager ask?Hollister Floor Model: For example, have you ever worked in retail? They wanted to see what kind of style you have, so let’s hope you do. Do you interact well with people? Do you have any customer service experience? Things like that.
Interviewer: What set you apart from other candidates?Hollister Floor Model: I don’t know. I just think a lot of people like my attitude, I’m very friendly, so things like that. They like how happy I am because it’s always busy there and they don’t want people who are tired or don’t talk much because that doesn’t help sell clothes. Just things like that.
Asker: How did you find out you got the job? Hollister Floor Model: She called me about three or four days later to let me know I got the job and when to come in for paperwork the next day.
Interviewer: What else would you tell someone looking for work? Hollister Floor Model: First, be yourself and show your personality. Tell them who you really are if you want to work with these people for the rest of the year. People will talk to you for hours if you’re talkative, so just be positive and happy to be there to show that you are interested in the job and really want it. Things like that. Just be yourself and be lively, because no one wants to hire someone who looks tired or dull for an interview. Things like that.
